Meet Mark
Football Governance | Regulation & OwnershipSQUAD #1Mark is a Doctoral Researcher in the School of Law at the University of Westminster, where his work focuses on football club ownership regulation and how it aligns with fan perceptions of good ownership. His research looks at how ownership and its regulation have developed, the role of supporters as stakeholders, and what football's rules are ultimately trying to protect.
He also brings legal and disciplinary experience from sports law study, football disciplinary panels and his own writing on the legal and regulatory issues affecting sport. At COPA, Mark helps us test our thinking against the wider football governance landscape, understand how regulation is developing and keep the ownership and supporter perspective visible as we turn regulatory expectations into something clubs can actually use.

Sport has always been a big part of Mark's life. He played plenty of football growing up and still spends weekends turning out for his local cricket club, where he describes himself as a very average club cricketer. That mix of football, cricket and a willingness to keep playing feels a pretty good reflection of life away from the research and regulation.
