Meet Darren

Fan Engagement | Supporter ExperienceSQUAD #11

Darren has spent much of his career looking at football through the eyes of supporters. With a background in customer service consultancy and an MBA, he joined The Fan Experience Company in 2017 and works with clubs on fan engagement, matchday experience, feedback, staff development and attendance growth. He also produces the company's club assessment reports and has worked as a UEFA mentor and on match assessment at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Within COPA, Darren brings a practical supporter lens to how clubs govern and operate. He helps us test whether decisions, policies and engagement arrangements make sense to the people on the other side of them, and whether clubs are genuinely listening, communicating and responding. His contribution is particularly important across fan engagement and heritage, where regulatory expectations need to sit alongside the identity, relationships and trust that make football clubs different.

What Darren brings to COPA

Supporter perspective

Understanding what matters to supporters, how they experience the club and why trust, listening and communication matter.

Engagement that works

Helping clubs move beyond consultation as a box-ticking exercise and build engagement into the way relationships and decisions are managed.

Assessment and improvement

Turning observation, fan feedback and evidence into practical improvements that clubs can actually make and sustain.

Away from COPA

Away from COPA, Darren is usually reading or watching a film. New York is his favourite place, Neil Diamond is rarely far from the playlist and, if asked for a superpower, he still goes with pragmatism.
